Abstract: A virtual oscilloscope was designed by using the LabVIEW software. Signals supplied by a pulse generator and background radiation signals from a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector were displayed in a real and a virtual oscilloscope, respectively. Amplitude, maximum voltage, rise time and fall time values through the oscilloscopes for both type signals were measured. They were acquired in different time/div. values to test and compare their performances. Obtained results and the signal shapes from them were meticulously compared. It was observed that they were highly comparable to each other. Results indicate that the developed virtual oscilloscope would reliably be able to be used for data acquisition as well as a real oscilloscope.

Abstract: The alpha energy spectra of 210Po were achieved through experimental and theoretical methods. The spectrometer which was consisted of silicon semiconductor surface barrier detector (SBD) was used to obtain experimental energy spectrum of the isotope. The theoretical alpha energy spectrum was also achieved through FLUKA Monte Carlo method to analyze and reveal its performance on alpha spectrum. Experimental and theoretical energy resolution values from the obtained spectra were determined and compared to each other. It was shown that, as a result of the comparison, experimental and theoretical energy spectra were comparable to each other according to spectral shape and the energy resolution. In conclusion, FLUKA MC program was quite successful in the determination of alpha energy spectrum of a radioactive source with satisfying energy resolution.

Abstract: Gamma-ray energy spectra were acquired using a Multichannel Analyzer (MCA) and a digitizer. A spectrometer which was consisted of a NaI(Tl) inorganic scintillation detector and a digitizer were used to obtain energy spectra of 137Cs radioisotope. The energy resolution values from analog and digital ways were calculated and compared with each other. The average analog and digital energy resolution values were determined as 7.69 % and 6.80 %, respectively. Obtained results showed that the digital systems are more preferable than the analog ones from the energy resolution point of view
